Out of all the hostels I have stayed in, I have had the worst experience ever; the 2 hostel managers are liars and very vindictive. First of all they concoct a story of me smoking crack in the dorm. I have never touched or even seen what crack is in the living form. I keep physically fit most days, being a fitness instructor and dedicated towards being a role model in health and wellbeing.Secondly, they ask me to leave the hostel without discussing this with me; obviously they would not discuss the issue because they made the accusations up.I was appalled by their malign behaviour against me. The two managers, (one person wearing spectacles and the other being a surfer dude person) are very deceptive people. Being a person of colour and a visitor to Cardiff city, this is alarmingly scarily situation to be in.Thirdly, they refuse to refund my money for one night I had left remaining, which I paid for in advance. I had to come back to the hostel to argue my case and have my money refunded back to me. The managers are very rude and manipulated, suggested that the three females which were sleeping in the same dorm has me, approached him (the manager wearing the spectacles) and suggested I was smoking crack, which was a total fabricated lie. Their conclusive behaviour towards me and other guest I have spoken with is hostile and calculating on a manipulative level. I do not recommend staying in this hostel.
Beds are very uncomfortable. Showers sometimes plugged. Doors to the rooms don't automatically lock. Has a public computer. Good location. Printing is 20 p a sheet
Food was good and reasonably priced. Not loving the cold air conditioning turned on but they did turn it down when asked but still had to move table a couple of times to avoid the icy blast
I've definitely stayed in 'nicer' places. However, 9 a night for an 8 bed dorm is all I need when I'm only out of town for a couple of days. I always come back here as I'm now familiar with the area and the staff are friendly.
Good place to stay for the night. Staff were really nice, everything was pretty clean, decent common rooms and bathrooms. You could come and go as you wanted reception was open 24 hours. A little difficult to find in the city, but with a map app we got there. Very quiet area.
