You'd expect the best from Apple but sadly they fail to meet expectations. I don't know what it is that causes this.
Absolutely disgusting service once out of contract will never purchase another apple product. Automatic call answering service gets you nowhere. Just rings over 2 hours to get to speak to a real person. Call in to store an hours drive away to be told cannot diagnose issue only to then find out it's a common problem which should have been repaired despite being out of warranty. Another hours drive and cannot get through to the store to arrange this. Apple store Cardiff you should be ashamed of how you treat your customers.

They make you believe they are there to fully support you... but in honesty they can't follow through like they use to... very different to how the old Apple support was helping us customer....
