We visited Cardiff for a weekend especially to see Dynamo the magician live in the Motor Point Arena,it was an amazing show to watch live as he is a very talented guy and so down to earth,I can watch him do his magic time and time again and Im still baffled to how he does it.the arena it self is a very nice building and easy to get to considering it in the centre of the city.its well managed and the food and drinks are at a reasonable price.we had a great time both at the venue and touring the city itself it is one of my favourite places to look around. For those of you that have never been I can highly recommend a visit,as there is so much to see and do with its lovely shopping centre the castle also Cardiff bay i suggest if you can spend the weekend to make sure you can get around to seeing it all.If you think this is helpful please give it a up.Thank You.
Brilliant! Location is perfect as its right by the motorway, so leaving and arriving is very easy. Its in a great place for hotels too as theyre nice and cheap because its not right in the centre of Cardiff. Atmosphere was great, the stage, lights and cameras around the stage is brilliant, nice and air cooled as well. I went to go and see J Cole and it was Brilliant, I had a great time and I have to say it was organised by staff very well. Find videos attached of J Cole and the venue
I really like the Motorpoint arena, it's got a big, central, main room, with a couple of bars along either side. You can stand almost anywhere on the main floor and see the main stage.Parking is easy too as there are two car parks close by.
A great arena with a lot to offer. It has a large area that fits between 5-6000 people depending on the layout, with balcony space also.It has many well known live acts and bands who have played over the years, I recently though, went to see Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds which had around 5000 people in attendance. The sound quality is very good, the layout is pretty decent too. It has a large merchandise stand near the main entrance and a food/drinks stand to the left of the main entrance as well as, a number of bars and merchandise stands dotted about the place. It is also in the city centre so is close to a number of hotels and, bars, restaurants and shops so, there is plenty to offer.Parking isn't too much of a problem. There is an outdoor car park next to it, though being an NCP and that close, it's rather expensive. St Davis opposite is reasonable in price but being this close to the shops and the Motorpoint, it can get busy. If you go around the one way system, passing the Motorpoint, passed Admiral and eventually onto Churchill Way, you will see directions to another car park (Capitol Shopping Centre). This is about the best priced for the city centre and is pretty convenient (2 on a Sunday). There is a walking entrance to this by the Cinema (I forget the name) so, the Motorpoint has a lot to offer.
The Motorpoint Arena (or CIA - Cardiff International Arena - if like me you're a bit older) is a good sized venue. Great for medium-sized concerts. There's usually a seating option (fab!) and the venue plays host to a range of artists from Paloma Faith, to Kings of Leon to classical orchestras and kid-friendly events. It can be a bit pricey for some events (but then that is in part determined by the promoter) and the venue itself is showing it's age. It has accessible ramps for wheelchairs and prams but it's quite a narrow fit with doors each end. The venue is starting to show it's age a little, but offers good space and excellent accoustics. Better lighting for expos would be appreciated though. City centre location which has its advantages but does mean parking can be difficult. Glad it exists, but would love to see it revamped.
