This is a difficult transaction to review as there were positives and negatives. From an administrative perspective Chapmans were very helpful. Also, individuals involved in the removal arrived promptly on both days and were polite, courteous and helpful throughout. Regrettably though, particularly as we had selected Chapmans largely due to their supposed experience in handling musical instruments for the likes of Welsh National Opera, there was a distinct lack of care taken whilst moving the piano; this was despite specific instruction that great care should be taken whilst moving this item, and assurance by Chapmans from the outset that this would be the case.On a number of occasions items of furniture were allowed to hit door frames whilst being moved, and also a dent was left in the metal-faced door of the house we were leaving.Whilst we were pleased that Chapmans provided wardrobe carton boxes for hanging clothes, we were disgusted to find when unpacking, in one of the boxes there was a soiled pair of ladies underwear, which I presume had been left by a previous client. What made it worse was that a jacket had fallen from its hanger on to the aforementioned SOILED underwear yuk! This being allowed to happen was purely down to a lack of care and attention by the Chapmans operatives, as the wardrobe boxes were packed by them, and clearly not checked to ensure they were fit for use.It is good in general that these boxes are reused where possible, but why are they not checked to ensure they are clean, empty and ready for re-use?On balance and with the benefit of hindsight, I would find it hard to recommend Chapmans if you care about protecting specific items that need to be moved, but if you do choose this company then make sure you check that boxes you use (or are used on your behalf) are fit for purpose, unless you want to run the risk of acquiring someone elses used (and soiled) underwear. Disappointing, after having high expectations of Chapmans.

I have just moved from a house to a first floor flat, via dropping off some furniture to my son's house on the way. From start to finish, Chapman's dealt with my removal very professionally and all of their staff were efficient and effective. Moving some of my furniture into the flat was particularly difficult but they managed it without complaining and with good humour. The whole experience, from my first contact with Elaine in the office through to dealing with the removal men for the move made, what is normally a very stressful time, much more bearable. Many thanks to all and I thoroughly recommend Chapmans.
Recently used Chapmans for house move and overall very satisfied. Very good service from initial survey through to actual move. The office manager was very helpful particularly given the changing situation regarding completion dates. Removal team were efficient, polite and careful. The quotation was provided, as promised, promptly after the initial survey and it was clear the surveyor understood the customer's needs and concerns. One (smallish but important to the customer) point suggest firm could improve their 'after-sales' service as far as collection of used packing boxes is concerned. We opted for the full packing service (highly recommended if budget allows) and had literally hundreds of boxes to deal with and wanted to do the right thing by keeping them dry for re-cycyling following the house move. This meant having to fill up rooms and shed with collapsed boxes and packing tissue (which could have been otherwise used). Took a number of requests to get Chapmans to collect them. Not sure they appreciated what an issue this is for the customer faced with chaos of moving and limited storage in new home. This is the reason I allocated 4 rather than 5 stars. Otherwise, very good job, would strongly recommend to friends and family and thanks to all concerned.
